We're Seeking: 

We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist with an interest in meteorology and a passion to build renewable energy forecasting algorithms & extreme weather alert systems. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of machine learning algorithms and a passion for leveraging data-driven solutions to solve complex meteorological challenges.

The candidate will also lead Buluttan’s EU-Horizon project that aims to do pure AI based weather forecasting borrowing concepts from the generative AI world.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design and implement regression based machine learning algorithms to improve the accuracy of short-term weather forecasts, focusing on renewable energy production and extreme weather alerts.

  • Analyze and interpret spatially complex datasets related to numerical weather prediction (NWP) models, radar and satellite imagery, atmospheric and climate variables.

  • Take the leadership role in Buluttan’s EU-Horizon project and collaborate with leading meteorology organizations from Europe to come up with a large foundational weather forecasting model

  • Deploy machine learning models to production, analyze and track their performance

  • Work closely with our meteorology team and continually improve existing models based on changing climate patterns and research advances.

  • Stay ahead of the latest developments in the field of meteorology & data science and drive Buluttan’s AI vision in meteorology.

Requirements:

  • Doctorate/Masters in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Meteorology, Computer Science, or related field

  • 3+ years customer-facing, project-delivery experience, professional services, and/or consulting experience.

  • Proven experience in developing & implementing & maintaining machine learning algorithms, preferably with time series regression & forecasting algorithms.

  • Proficient in Python, familiarity with GCP & data engineering pipelines.

  • Experience with data visualization tools and libraries.

  • Strong analytical skills, with excellent problem-solving abilities.

  • Strong communication and team leadership skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience working with weather data, radar and satellite image recognition.

  • Passion for meteorology and playing with weather data

  • Kaggle Level Expert or Master

  • An active stance on climate change & sustainability
